Survival in a foreign place significantly depends on one’s open-mindedness and integrative ability. Therefore, “unpack one’s cultural luggage” is a key point to living a joyful life outside your home country. The most successful expats would throw themselves into the new environment, treat it like an adventure and continuously keep those rewarding experiences.
Claude, a French captain in Tianjin Airlines, a great example of living a joyful life oversea and treat every experience preciously that both his wife and daughter also enjoy very much. He shared his Chinese expat-pilot experience with us last few weeks ago, and his story is truly a wonderful inspiration for people who are curious of the expat-pilot in China, especially his interests that made his life more joyful.
We have learned different aspects of Claude's "joyful life" from interviewing him. Aside from his enthusiastic input in the pilot profession, he also owns a private-label brand of watches, of which he designs and assembles. During his spare time Claude likes to collect materials in China and bring them back to Europe for the assembly of his drone. These materials can be sourced in China but are nowhere found in Europe. His high income allows him to embrace his biggest collection, total of five Mercede-Benzs cars. Claude resides with his wife and daughter in China because of his strong belief that family should stay together. Allowing his daughter to be exposed to an entirely different culture at such young age will help her grow up to be a well-rounded person.
Working in China might not be an easy task. However, the opportunities China provide bring you something positively unexpected too. If you are seeking these kinds of life styles, we suggest you to check out the opportunities that listed below.
